Nicaragua Adventure and Nature

This is a circuit for lovers of adventure, to live with nature to its fullest expression, to know the jungle, the towns of the Spanish conquest, the lakes of Nicaragua. You can also visit the volcanoes of Nicaragua, its colonial cities and the beautiful and paradisiacal island of Ometepe, get to know the culture of the country, live with the locals of the area.

Itinerary

  • DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN NICARAGUA – MANAGUA

    Reception at the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport and transfer to the airport.

    City tour around Managua: You will know places like Hugo Chávez Avenue, Salvador Allende Port, Revolution Square, old Managua Cathedral, Xolotlan promenade. (This tour can be the first day or the last depending on the arrival time of the flight)

  • DAY 2: TRANSFER TO SAN JUAN RIVER

    Leaving from Managua to San Carlos, the journey takes 4 hours is 300 kms we will pass through the cities of Juigalpa, Chontales, among other rich in livestock and lots of green land, has beautiful panoramic views. Or as a second option take a plane to get to Rio San Juan

  • Day 3:

    Early in the morning you take a public boat from San Juan del Norte to El Castillo (approximate duration of 7 hours). In the afternoon we will visit the famous fortress with the impressive name of “La Fortaleza de la Pure Pure and Immaculate Conception”, which was built between 1673 and 1675 to defend against the invading pirates …

  • Day 4

    Visit to the Maíz Indian Reserve, we will go along the Bartola River, a river that forms the western edge of the Maíz Indio Reserve. This is located just 6 kilometers from the historic town of El Castillo, so visiting Indio Maíz during a trip to the town is a good option. It is worth mentioning that to enter the reserve the company of a guide is necessary. Generally, visitors hire one and organize transport from El Castillo, but it is also possible to hire one of the MARENA guards, who have a small station at the entrance of the reserve.

    Within Indio Maíz there are two roads that are used to explore the area. These vary in length (from 2 km to 3.5 km) and time (2 to 2.5 hours at 3 to 3.5 hours). The wildlife is spectacular, and many of the animals of the tropics can be easily seen on these trails.

    The other option to tour the area is to stay in a boat and navigate upstream. As the reserve is right next to the river, tourists can see the beautiful animals, especially birds, and the impressive jungle. The time to enter through the Bartola River is from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (it is possible to stay until later but not many people are authorized to enter after the established time).

    Since Indio Maíz is a tropical rain forest, products such as repellents, strong boots and capes are necessary. The trips to the reserve can be organized with the guides of El Castillo or in the hotels of the town Boca de Sábalos.

  • Day 5

    We will take the way back to Managua to go Leon Arrival to the Leon.

    Leon Tour: You will know places such as León Cathedral, the central park, El Calvario church, La Recolección church, National Palace of Culture, where the National Archive, the National Library and the National Museum are located.

  • DAY 6: TOURS FLOR DE CAÑA TOUR

    The city of Chichigalpa is known for its factories, one of which is the San Antonio Sugar Factory and the Flor de Caña Rum Factory that we will visit. Throughout the world it is known as one of the best rums available. We offer you the opportunity to visit the rum factory and learn about the rum process. The tour includes visits to the Rum vault (Slow Aged), rum barrel, Operational area, Video Presentation, Introduction and Sample of rum tasting by the Rumelier and finally the Museum / Bar & Gift-Shop Flor de Caña.

    This tour is a must for people who like to see, experience and learn about one of the world’s most famous liquors!

  • DAY 7: ARRIVAL AT OMETEPE

    We will leave from Leon to get to the city of Rivas and take a ferry that will take us to the island of Ometepe in the lake of Nicaragua.

  • DAY 8: SANTO DOMINGO BEACH – KAYAKING ISTIAN

    This morning you will drive to Rio Istian where you will discover it by kayak. This natural paradise provides a habitat for many waterfowl, such as herons, ibis and tree ducks such as the Jacanas.

  • DAY 9: VOLCÁN MADERA TOURS OR SAN CASCADE SAN RAMON

    We will climb the wooden volcano or as a second option we will visit the San Ramón waterfall on the slopes of the volcano.

  • DAY 10: GRANADA AND LAKE OF NICARAGUA

    Transfer to visit the viewpoint of Catarina: Catarina is a town near Masaya, overlooking the Laguna de Apoyo. It is famous for its majestic view of the lagoon, as well as its nurseries. The viewpoint of Catarina is one of the highest hills surrounding the Laguna de Apoyo, and the view from here is very good. You can see the whole lagoon, as well as the Lake of Nicaragua that is behind it. The Mombacho volcano that surrounds the lake is also present in this view.

  • DAY 11: CITY TOURS GRANADA AND ISLETS

    Tour of the Isletas de Granada: The Isletas de Granada are considered one of the most attractive natural paradises in Nicaragua.   • DAY 12: VOLCÁN MASAYA TOUR, CRAFTS MARKET

    Departure from the hotel for a tour of the Masaya volcano: This is one of the 7 active volcanoes in the country. Its crater has an altitude of 635 meters and continuously emits large amounts of sulfur dioxide gas; it also maintains an incandescence inside due to a lake of persistent lava. It is known as one of the 6 gates to in erno, the product of legends in times of Spanish conquest.

    You will be directed to the Craft Market of Masaya, this is an interesting place to get Nicaraguan handmade souvenirs and enjoy folkloric shows. It is a friendly stage with many small shops full of colorful memories. Rest of the afternoon Free to rest on the shores of the support lagoon, read a book, practice kayaking or simply relax in the waters of the lagoon.
