Then the 1 hour trip on a scenic road, bordering Lake Xolotlán or Lake Managua, with a breathtaking view of the Momotombo and Momotombito volcanoes.
Old City León was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 2000. León was the capital of Nicaragua for more than 200 years until being replaced by Managua in 1851.
The Cathedral of León is the largest colonial religious building in Central America. The remains of the immortal and internationally known poet Rubén Darío still rest here.
Enjoy a visit to the Rubén Darío Museum, León Cathedral, and several other important sites. We will end our tour with a walk through the hot springs of San Jacinto, a place where the hot water vapor and the gases of bubbles through the mud of the depths of the Telica Volcano; The field is not large, but it is interesting as it is hot to walk to see the different holes that vary in size and color.
The mud sometimes throws small pebbles and the steam is always being thrown; so that enough children in the area offer to guide them, which is a good idea since there is no sign indicating where it is safe to walk and locals know where to take it.
