Challenge of Fire

This is a circuit for adventurers seeking a transcendental contact with active volcanoes. Besides visiting attractions such as Antigua and Lake Atitlan, you have the opportunity to climb two of the thirty-three volcanoes in Guatemala. The Pacaya volcano is the most active volcano in Guatemala, with a height of 2500mts, which offers stunning views and can be heard erupting; and VolcánAcatenango will offer a unique view of the eruptions of the Volcano of Fire. Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Guatemala

    Welcome at La Aurora International Airport and transfer to Antigua Guatemala.

    Cultural Walk Antigua: know the Central Plaza, the Palace of the Captain Generals, the Cathedral, La Calle del Arco, the Church and Convent of Mercy, if it’s open: the Society of Jesus, the Crafts Market front to Ruinas del Carmen and Jade and Silver factory. Accommodation in Antigua.

  • Day 2: Tour Pacaya Volcano

    Probably the best known and promoted from Guatemala who never fails to impress visitors volcano. Because it is in constant eruptive activity, constantly changing their morphology ensuring that the visitor experience is always different. During his ascent they have stunning views of other volcanoes like Agua, Fuego, Acatenango.   • Day 3 – 4: Volcan Acatenango

    This volcanic complex, the third highest in the country with 3.976 meters high, is actually three peaks or volcanoes linked together. The summits are known as Pico Mayor, Fire and Yepocapa, the latter inactive since 1972. From the summit of Pico Mayor can appreciate the ‘windrow’, a natural formation that unites the volcano with Fire, a unique view in the country . Beside the acatenango is the Volcan del Fuego, which is the most eruptive volcano in the world, and with any luck, will provide a natural fireworks display which can be enjoyed camping site. Acatenango is very difficult to climb the volcano, though it is accessible; also it has all kinds of terrain which allows aerobic work (walking, jogging, etc) and anaerobic (activity based brief strength) which are required to have excellent physical condition.   • Day 5: Transfer to Panajachel

    24:30 departure to Panajachel, the main village overlooking Lake Atitlan. Accommodation in Panajachel.

  • Day 6: Lake Atitlan

    This lake is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, it is surrounded by three impressive volcanoes and colorful indigenous Maya hometowns as San Juan La Laguna and Santiago Atitlan. This is the place to experience the amazing fusion between the Maya worldview and the Catholic faith site. 9:15 a.m. Boat tour visiting 3 villages around Lake: San Juan La Laguna, San Pedro La Laguna and Santiago Atitlan. Where you can appreciate different traditions Guatemaltecas (such as clothing, textile processing and art galleries) and the most emblematic places of these towns. Visit to San Juan La Laguna (1 hour) visit to San Pedro La Laguna (1 hour) visit to Santiago Atitlan (1 1/2) Departure from Santiago Atitlan and Panajachel return. 4:00 pm departure to Antigua.
